POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Village Administrator, the IT Support Technician provides first level technical support to staff and assists with hardware, software, and basic network issues. Collaborates with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) as needed to support daily operations, handle basic onsite support needs, and assist with triaging tickets. This role is ideal for someone with foundational technical knowledge, strong troubleshooting abilities, and an interest in supporting a municipal government environment while continuing to learn and grow in a hands on, team focused setting.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers and peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and set up new computers, workstations, and other equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity issues; escalate more complex problems when necessary.
  • Handle basic help desk tickets that are routed to onsite staff.
  • Assist users with basic application support (Microsoft 365, email, browser issues, etc.).
  • Maintain and update inventory of computers, equipment, and IT assets.
  • Order IT supplies such as monitors, toner, cables, keyboards, and other peripherals.
  • Track supply levels and coordinate replenishment with vendors.
  • Support creation and maintenance of user accounts, credentials, and basic permissions.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as software updates and device health checks.
  • Troubleshoot printers, scanners, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Provide setup and on site support for meeting rooms, including AV systems, microphones, projectors, and displays.
  • Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot technology for public meetings, including recording and streaming.
  • Coordinate with staff before and during public meetings to ensure smooth technology operation.
  • Document support requests, resolutions, and hardware setups in the ticketing system.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and standard applications.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, Apple iOS and Android OS.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common desktop, mobile device, printer, and software issues.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem solving skills.
  • Interest or experience in audio/visual systems or meeting related technology.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work independently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  •  On site technical support with occasional evening hours for public meetings.
  •  May require moving and setting up equipment (typically 25–40 lbs).

This position is one of three IT staff roles within the organization. Each member contributes to overall technology service delivery and security protocols, including cross-coverage during absences or periods of elevated demand.


SALARY AND BENEFITS


The hourly wage range for this position is $26.51- $34.37. The expected starting hourly wage for this position is $26.51.
