Position Opportunity:

Matica Biotechnology is seeking a capable and reliable Tier 2 IT Support Specialist with a focus on supporting our growing biopharma automation environment. This role will serve as the bridge between traditional IT operations and the infrastructure needs of our automation systems supporting cell, gene, and viral vector therapy manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in end-user support, system administration, and basic networking, with enough technical curiosity to help connect instrument controller systems, create accounts, and maintain compliance with network security standards.

How you will make an impact:

Primary Responsibilities (70%)

  • Serve as Tier 2 escalation point for help desk tickets—resolving advanced issues related to Windows systems, Microsoft 365, Teams, VPN access, and general IT infrastructure.
  • Support user onboarding/offboarding, including Active Directory group management, email configuration, and permissions control.
  • Perform local hardware setup and troubleshooting, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Maintain and manage IT asset inventory across departments.
  • Coordinate with Infrastructure Lead for routine server patching, software deployment, and network troubleshooting.
  • Assist in managing backups, endpoint protection, and monitoring alerts.
  • Create and maintain IT documentation and knowledge base entries.

Automation Support (30%)

  • Support basic IT infrastructure for automation equipment and instruments used in biopharma production and labs.
  • Set up instrument controller computers, join them to the domain, and apply correct group policies.
  • Reserve and configure static IPs or assist in network VLAN assignments in coordination with Infrastructure and Automation teams.
  • Create and manage user accounts for software controlling instruments or batch systems (e.g., SCADA, DeltaV, or equipment-specific apps).
  • Ensure compliance with GxP/CSV expectations around system access, audit trails, and network segregation (with guidance from QA or Automation).
  • Serve as first-line support liaison for lab or cleanroom instrument connectivity issues.


As a future Matican you bring:

Education

  • Associate's degree in computer science or IT related degree, or High School diploma with 3+ years in an IT support or system administration role

Experience and Skills

  • Proficient in Windows desktop/server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and  networking
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues across a diverse endpoint environment
  • Exposure to working in regulated environments (GxP/GMP, ISO 27001, etc.) preferred
  • Strong documentation, time management, and communication skills
  • Experience working alongside automation or manufacturing teams is a plus

Nice-to-Have Experience and Skills

  • Familiarity with biotech lab systems or automation instruments ( SCADA, LIMS)
  • Basic understanding of validation or computerized system compliance (CSV)
  • Knowledge of IT security principles for regulated systems
  • Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical or CDMO setting
