Rockhurst University seeks an IT Support Specialist to provide first level technical assistance to our faculty, staff, students and. The Support Specialist’s duties include but are not limited to:
- Answer questions and resolve IT problems for clients in person at the Helpdesk, via telephone or teleconference.
- Maintain and assign the service ticket system daily; respond to assigned requests promptly.
- Provide assistance, training, and troubleshooting concerning the use of computer hardware, software, printing, and installation of applications, email, and operating systems.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of audiovisual equipment for classrooms and special events.
- Maintain technology assets, complete equipment repairs, perform updates and new rollouts of equipment.
- Work closely with a team of other IT professionals to complete large projects.
- Manage technology inventory to include procurement, tracking and disposal.
- Ensure that University systems are aligned with IT standards.
- Occasionally provide support for special events or conferences and may require evening or weekend support.
Rockhurst University is a Catholic, Jesuit University serving 3,500 students in the business and cultural center of Kansas City, MO. Qualified candidates will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of helpdesk experience.
- Excellent customer services skills
- Expansive knowledge of laptop and workstation hardware/software/operating systems configuration and connectivity.
- Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of mobile devices, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory
- A thorough understanding of Windows 10 & 11, Office 365, OneDrive, Teams, and Mac and iOS platforms.
- A good understanding of systems administration and security principles. Ability to troubleshoot security issues, isolate and repair or rebuild compromised machines.
- Ability to support and maintain wireless technologies.
- Effective communication skills; Ability to present new technical material in group settings and train end-users
- Must be reliable, team oriented, self-motivated, proactive and able to adapt to change
- Strong verbal and written communication skills sufficient to interact with a variety of users and other technical staff.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines
- Dependable with an excellent attendance record.
- Steady under pressure when troubleshooting under time constraints.
