IT Support Specialist

At Lumin8 Transportation Technologies, we are committed to delivering a full spectrum of Smart Infrastructure Services. We design, construct, install, integrate, operate, monitor, and maintain a wide range of transportation infrastructure assets and technologies that serve our customers and communities. 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive IT Support Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s IT and OT systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will provide helpdesk support, manage hardware and software assets, and ensure the smooth operation of critical systems with minimal downtime.

 Location

  • Based in Virginia Beach, with occasional overnight travel required to other Lumin8 locations across Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, and additional sites within the Eastern region.
  • This is an on-site position based in Virginia Beach; remote work is not available.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and manage Windows Autopilot profiles for seamless device provisioning.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune for mobile device management (MDM), application deployment, compliance policies, and endpoint security.
  • Assist in the automation of device enrollment and configuration using Intune and Autopilot.
  • Administer laptops, desktops, mobile devices, cameras, and peripheral equipment.
  • Perform timely hardware and software upgrades and deploy standardized images for new systems.
  • Ensure all workstations are equipped with standard and specialized hardware/software as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including VLANs, firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues across LAN/WAN environments.
  • Monitor network and system health; respond to hardware issues and assist in building and maintaining servers and infrastructure.
  • Maintain and update network diagrams and documentation for infrastructure and configuration changes.
  • Manage and triage IT support tickets using Resolve or similar software platforms, ensuring timely resolution and accurate documentation.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees with technology setup and training.
  • Follow and document internal IT procedures and best practices.
  • Provide support for software deployments, security updates, and patches.
  • Manage company cell phone plans, including issuing equipment, assigning lines, generating reports, and repurposing devices.
  • Create and manage user accounts and assign appropriate software licenses (e.g., Office 365).
  • Manage user and computer group assignments in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) or equivalent tools.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of IT equipment, software, and licenses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCENT, Network+, CCNA) and at least 5 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

 Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Intune for device compliance, configuration profiles, application deployment, and endpoint security.
  • Experience configuring and managing Windows Autopilot for zero-touch provisioning.
  • Familiarity with scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell) for automating Intune and device management tasks.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall rules.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet).
  • Solid troubleshooting skills for network and endpoint issues.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange, and Office 365.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems, e.g., Resolve, ServiceNow, Jira
  • Strong documentation skills for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Awareness of data privacy practices and applicable laws.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% and be available for on-call support, including nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
