Description

M.S. Rau is seeking a motivated IT Support Intern to assist with systems support, helpdesk, maintenance, and optimization to support the M.S. Rau’s ever-growing infrastructure and solutions.


This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT support within a luxury retail environment, working closely with experienced professionals while contributing to critical technology infrastructure projects.


Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported technical issues, including network connectivity, software errors, and hardware      failures
  • Perform printer maintenance, troubleshooting, and configuration
  • Assist with maintaining and updating IT hardware inventory
  • Organize and maintain IT spaces, including racks, storage, and workbenches
  • Help label and maintain network drops, ensuring secure and functional connections
  • Support the setup of new user accounts and software installations
  • Provide basic user training on IT systems and tools
  • Monitor system performance and assist with scheduled data backups
  • Support security monitoring and educate users on safe computing practices
  • Document IT procedures and maintain knowledge base entries
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure public-facing technology is functioning properly

Key Outcomes & Responsibilities

Printer Management and Problem Mitigation

  • Document recurring printer issues and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct printer maintenance and troubleshooting.

Physical Network Audit

  • Help conduct a comprehensive audit of network infrastructure.
  • Assist with labeling and testing network drops.
  • Support documentation for enhanced network topology.

IT Asset and Inventory Management

  • Contribute to developing a comprehensive IT asset tracking system.
  • Assist with physical inventory checks and asset tagging.
  • Help organize IT storage spaces for improved accessibility.

Knowledge Base Advancement

  • Assist the IT process documentation.
  • Consolidate and organize knowledge repository: scalable, accurate, and easily accessible.
  • Develop plan for updating and versioning.
Requirements

Experience/Training/Education

  • Seeking Bachelor’s or Undergraduate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage      systems, and telecommunications systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow procedures

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

This is an intern position. The intern will work 40 hours per week on site at M.S. Rau’s primary Gallery location with a pay rate of $15 per hour

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to routinely walk, bend, stoop, and climb
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to read and write in English

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and gallery. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The position uses a computer to access, input, and retrieve data. Finger dexterity is required to operate computer keyboard.
