Job summary: 

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Help Desk Technician Intern to join our IT team in our downtown Chicago office. The ideal candidate will provide first-level technical support to end-users, ensuring timely resolution of issues and exceptional customer service. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT-related issues via phone, email, and in-person support.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365, Windows, VPN, and other business applications.
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT staff as needed, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of support requests and resolutions in the help desk ticketing system.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding of employees, including account creation, hardware setup, and access management.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and security standards.

 

Qualifications 

  • Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). For an exceptional candidate, High School Diploma may be considered.
  • 1–3 years of prior IT support or help desk experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and basic networking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently.
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or other relevant certifications a plus.
  • MAC support experience is beneficial
