Mobile Generation, the fastest-growing Verizon Wireless Retailer in the Midwest, is currently looking for an IT Support Specialist to join our team. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting day-to-day IT operations across our retail locations. This includes providing both hands-on and remote support with a focus on system setup, maintenance, and user training. You'll work with platforms such as Google Workspace, Zendesk, B2B Soft, RQ4, and more. Responsibilities also include managing networking and endpoint devices, supporting VPN connectivity, enforcing security protocols, and assisting with identity and access management.

The IT Support Specialist for Mobile Generation will be responsible for:

 
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT support for 80+ retail locations—both remotely and on-site.

  • Install, configure, and maintain POS systems, workstations, mobile devices, and network hardware (routers, switches, and APs).

  • Configure and manage VPNs for secure access (client-based and site-to-site).

  • Deploy and support mobile device management (MDM) tools.

  • Manage user accounts and permissions in line with an identity and access management (IAM) framework.

  • Monitor and respond to system anomalies using internal and third-party tools.

  • Implement and maintain network and endpoint security controls, including antivirus, firewalls, and patch management.

  • Lead user training on cybersecurity best practices (e.g., phishing, safe system use).

  • Maintain accurate documentation, inventory, and change management records.

  • Support API integrations between key systems and tools.

  • Travel between 25% and 50% is required—typically on the lower end—to support store operations across Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

 

Mobile Generation is looking for candidates with: 

 
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 2+ years of IT support experience (multi-location retail environment preferred)

  • Strong understanding of VPN protocols, tunneling, and secure remote access (IPsec, SSL VPN, etc.)

  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and tools for endpoint and network protection

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Zendesk, RQ4, B2B Soft, and Excel

  • Proficiency with MDM tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or similar)

  • Experience in deployment, configuration, and support of network infrastructure (routers, switches, wireless APs)

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Experience with API integration and third-party system configuration

  • Comfortable with regional travel up to 75%

  • Experience handling customer PII or working in a regulated industry is a plus
