AG&E is an international structural engineering firm headquartered in Dallas, TX. Founded in 2004, AG&E has 8 offices across the US and one office in India. We are searching for a Network and Systems Administrator Level 1Β to join our team in Dallas, TX.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the IT Director, the Network and System Administrator Level 1 to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be motivated and detail-oriented, providing foundational support for network systems, hardware, and software, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals eager to grow their networking, system administration, and IT troubleshooting skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage software installation and updates to ensure applications remain secure, compatible, and up to date.
- Configure and deploy new computers for fast and reliable onboarding. This will include shipping computers between studios.
- Maintain accurate tracking of computer assets and software license usage to optimize resource allocation and ensure compliance across multiple studios.
- Respond to and resolve trouble tickets efficiently, providing timely technical support and long-term solutions to recurring issues.
- Maintain user lists and group accuracy across multiple applications, departments and studios.
- Manage onboarding process for new users and employees exists across computer systems, networks, applications, departments and studios.
Network Administration:
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues.
- Assist in configuring and installing routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Ensure the security of network systems by applying updates, patches, and monitoring tools.
- Support users with VPN access, Wi-Fi issues, and other connectivity-related concerns.
System Administration:
- Provide support for Windows operating systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords in Active Directory or similar systems.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining servers, workstations, and peripheral devices.
- Perform routine backups and system checks to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
Technical Support:
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues via helpdesk systems, email, teams, or phone.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for end-users.
- Document IT incidents, solutions, and processes to contribute to the knowledge base.
- Train and support users in best practices for IT system usage.
General IT Operations:
- Assist in maintaining inventory of hardware, software, and IT supplies.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger-scale projects and implementations.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to current systems.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals, or equivalent).
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and networking concepts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Entra, AWS, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Experience with common IT hardware (printers, desktops, laptops) and troubleshooting techniques.
- Codeword Technician should be something you can tell me in an interview.
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash is a plus.
