Job requirements

About the Position:

  • Job Title: IT Support Technician

  • Location: West Sacramento, CA

  • Reporting to: Director, Information Technology

  • Expected Travel: 0% of Expected Travel

Responsibilities:

  • Performing the following IT support activities:

    • Installing and removing desktop and laptop computers as required

    • Installing and uninstalling software packages as required (both on-site and remotely)

    • Upgrading and patching computer systems' OS as required

    • Troubleshooting, upgrading, and fixing problems with computer hardware and software

    • Conducting periodic maintenance on desktop systems as required

    • Assisting with user administration including adding users, removing users, and conducting password resets

  • Maintaining network equip at Origin Headquarters, West Sacramento CA

    • Install and removing network equipment

    • Maintenance of network and equipment

    • Troubleshooting network issues

  • Maintaining vendor relationships

    • Communicate with outside vendors to maintain relationships

    • Quote and change services as needed.

  • Maintaining information security by implementing the following:

    • Anti-virus software

    • Hardware Encryption

    • Two-factor authentication

  • IT support desk that accomplishes the following:

    • Enables employees to request support for hardware and software issues through a ticketing system

    • Tracks ticket status and resolution

    • Provides timely support to employees in the U.S., Canada, and Europe

  • Other duties may include but are not limited to:

    • Developing, communicating, and implementing IT programs, policies, and procedures to include the following:

      • IT onboarding for new hires

      • Information security

      • IT support

    • Implementation of new software to employees.

Qualifications:

  • Educational requirements

    • Associateโ€™s degree or equivalent certification in IT or related field

  • Relevant experience

    • 2+ years Help Desk support experience

    • 1-2 years experience with customer service in a corporate enterprise environment

    • Experience with troubleshooting IT hardware and software components

    • Experience with:

      • Windows server 2012 & newer

      • Google Workspace & Microsoft 365

      • Switch and firewall maintenance

      • Okta or similar Identity Provider (IdP) platforms

  • Skills and competencies

    • Strong communication and customer service skills

    • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

    • Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

    • Comfortable supporting both Windows and Mac environments

    • Knowledge of ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, Freshservice, Jira)

    • Self-starter with a willingness to learn and grow

  • Preferred but Not Required:

    • Experience with imaging tools or MDM (e.g., Intune, JAMF, Ivanti)

    • Basic scripting or automation knowledge (PowerShell, Python)

    • Hands-on experience with user provisioning/deprovisioning in Okta

Salary Range: This position is a Level 2 at Origin Materials. The pay range for this position level at Origin Materials is $55,400 - $100,900. This range is not necessarily a guarantee of actual compensation that may be earned nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on relevant experience, education and other factors.
