This is non-exempt position working in the City of Plantation's Information Technology Department. This is a technical position responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting hardware and software as well as providing customer support for end-users. Daily tasks are scheduled via the Help Desk or assigned by a supervisor. Must be able to gather and analyze information to determine best course of action based on general guidelines or set procedures.
Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
Install, configure and maintain PC hardware, peripheral and application software.
Assists users with Microsoft Office Suite and other application software.
Monitors help desk system for ticket assignment/resolution.
Assists with Voice and Data Ethernet cable pulls and end terminations.
Document assets for inventory management.
Performs related work as required and as directed.
This position does not have final procurement authority.
Knowledge of and the ability to install, configure and maintain PC hardware, peripheral and application software.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Operating Systems and Office Suite programs.
Ability to effectively troubleshoot PC hardware, software and peripherals to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Ability to learn software packages and software tools.
Ability to work with confidential data and maintain such confidence.
Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing to a diverse employee population.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other City employees.
Ability to climb 6' ladder and lift up to 50lbs.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from a standard high school or an equivalent recognized certificate; a minimum of one (1) years of experience in a technical position supporting PC hardware, peripheral and software. A+ certification preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
Licenses and Certifications
Must successfully obtain an ITIL Foundation certification (current version) within one (1) year of hire date.
This is a designated "Recovery" classification in the City's Emergency Operations Plan and will require the employee occupying this position to work for declared emergencies. Attendance at National Incident Management System (NISM) training at the appropriate level is mandatory.
