Help Desk Technician Job Purpose:ย 

Works across a broad range of technologies and liaises across multiple areas of the business to support incidents, problems and requests. Responsible for answering IT requests via phone, email, live chat or instant message and explaining solutions in technical and nontechnical terms.ย 

Help Desk Technician Job Duties:ย 

  • Build and install PCs, wireless networks, and peripheral devices (such as printers, scanners, mobile/smart phones) related to desktop infrastructure, in accordance with department standardsย 

  • Provides advice and guidance to colleagues regarding incidentsย 

  • Maintain installed PCs, networks, and peripherals with routine maintenanceย 

  • Identify, log and resolve technical problems with software applications or network systemsย 

  • Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to senior team leaders for consideration and implementationย 

  • Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with department guidelinesย 

  • Create, maintain, and distribute reports of progress to senior leadershipย 

  • Migrating workstations from Windows 10 to Windows 11 or higher platformย 

  • Maintain client databases with up-to-date solutions and clear record of activitiesย 

  • Explain and document technical issues in a clear way to clientsย 

  • Use call and ticket logging system to accurately record requestsย 

Help Desk Technician Skills and Qualifications:ย 

  • Excellent Customer Service in Face-to-Face, Telephone or Electronic Interaction with Clientsย 

  • Good Language and Communications Skillsย 

  • Problem-Solvingย 

  • Relevant Certifications such as CompTia A+, CCENT, MS-102, MS 365 Certified Fundamentalsย 

  • Good Understanding of Computer Support and Troubleshootingย 

  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11ย 

  • Windows Server products and/or Apple Operating Systemsย 

  • Ability to Work in a Teamย 

  • Ability to Prioritize Projects, familiarity with the Troubleshooting Methodologyย 

  • Ability to Maintain and/or update Asset management tools and processesย 

  • Familiarity with Remote Management and Mobile Device Management Systems (MDM)ย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • Enterprise IT experienceย 

  • Call center IT experienceย 

  • ITIL Training / certificationย 

  • Computer repair and networking classesย 

  • Ability to self-manageย
