Instructor - Cybersecurity

Through leadership by example, provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.

1. Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
2. Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
3. Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
4. Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
5. Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Participate as a productive member of a team.
8. Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
9. Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
10. Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated working knowledge of programmatic discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching/learning principles, and evaluation
• Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, active listening, and non-verbal cues
• Strong customer service skills which includes working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to manage time, organize work and meet deadlines
• Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery and assessment
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (employers, clients, and vendors)
• Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work and/or the improvement of processes and/or systems
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision
• Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities
• Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with video-conferencing and technologies associated with adult-centric teaching and learning, as well as within specific programmatic disciplines, which may include web technologies, operating systems, online program tracking platforms, social media platforms, mobile technology tools, and/or AV/multimedia applications and equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of: Network administration, network infrastructure. Including security network design principles, Implementation and management of information security systems and practices. Business continuity, disaster recovery and incident response, Backup strategies, Firewall and intrusion detection configuration and management, Penetration testing, Application security, Mobile and web-based, and Digital forensics.
• Functional knowledge of: Network design and architecture, Information systems design and architecture, Virtualization, including cloud technologies, Server and client operating systems, Microsoft desktop, Microsoft server, Linux, Wireless networking, Hardware and software architecture.

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas: Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS (Management Information Systems), Network Systems, Network Engineering, or Network/Software Security.
• Seven years’ experience in a network related career.
• One year experience teaching or training information technology.
• Attain and maintain a WTCS teaching certificate.
  

This position supports the Business Information Technology Department and is available to start on November 3rd, 2025.

This position requires Wisconsin residence and in person instruction. 

Hours
This is a full-time instructor position on a flexible year-round calendar.  Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends.
