Academy Bus is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to support IT systems administration, infrastructure, and end‑user support across our Northeast locations. This role is hands‑on and staff‑focused, supporting help desk operations, hardware deployment, network connectivity, and basic systems administration.

 Work Location & Travel

  • Primary work location: Hoboken, NJ (Corporate Office)
  • Occasional travel to other East Coast locations, primarily within New Jersey
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a car are required

Earn an annual salary of $65,000-$75,000 per year. Pay rate commensurate with experience level.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain computers, network devices, and IT infrastructure
  • Provide technical assistance with setup, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software
  • Respond to support requests via phone, email, in person, and remote access tools
  • Support basic server operations and virtual desktop environments
  • Assist with network connectivity, including installation of network cabling and troubleshooting internet issues
  • Safeguard information system assets by identifying and resolving potential and active security issues
  • Communicate system status and support activities to users and stakeholders as needed
  • Maintain documentation and assist with performance and system reporting
  • Maintaining and Verifying Barracuda Backup systems

 Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Experience setting up and supporting Windows desktop systems
  • Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness and openness to learning new technologies

Hardware & Network Experience

  • Windows desktop and laptop deployment and support
  • Basic server support
  • Network wiring installation and internet connectivity troubleshooting
  • Ability to terminate, test and identify Cat 5/Cat 6 structured cabling

Technology Environment

Experience with some or all of the following technologies is preferred:

  • Windows network environment (on‑premises Active Directory)
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, and VPN
  • VMware Horizon and Hyper‑V virtual servers and desktops
  • Rapid7 InsightIDR and InsightVM
  • SentinelOne Endpoint Protection and EDR
  • Hosted VoIP phone systems

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant IT support or help desk experience preferred
  • Familiarity with antivirus, vulnerability management, and patch management tools
  • Understanding of mobile devices and operating systems (Android and iOS)
  • Exposure to VMware or virtualization technologies is a plus
