Job Summary:
The Help Desk Technician IV is responsible for investigating and resolving advanced software and hardware issues. This role serves as the highest level of technical support within the help desk team, focusing on resolving complex technical problems, identifying trends in issue reporting, and developing preventative solutions. The position involves extensive troubleshooting, process improvement, and user training to enhance IT efficiency and minimize recurring problems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize incoming requests via phone, voicemail, email, and in- Serve as the final escalation point for the most complex technical issues that lower-tier technicians are unable to resolve.
• Analyze incident reports to identify trends and develop proactive solutions to reduce recurring IT issues.
• Respond to and prioritize IT support requests via phone, voicemail, email, and in-person interactions.
• Guide users through detailed diagnostic procedures to determine root causes of system errors.
• Troubleshoot hardware-related issues such as modem, printer, cable, and telephone failures.
• Maintain and track all IT incidents in a problem management database, ensuring detailed documentation.
• Generate and analyze IT support reports, recommending long-term solutions for help desk efficiency.
• Work closely with software developers to report and address application errors or system enhancements.
• Liaise with hardware and software vendors for repair, support, and system updates.
• Evaluate new software and hardware for efficiency, compatibility, and user-friendliness.
• Develop and update technical documentation, user guides, and troubleshooting manuals.
• Create and deliver training programs for end users and junior IT staff, ensuring best practices in IT support.
• Install and configure personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) with 2-3 years of related experience; OR an associate’s degree with 4-5 years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting software, hardware, and networking issues.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and synthesize technical information for troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in IT systems, including inventory software, manufacturing software, order processing systems, spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create detailed IT documentation and conduct training sessions.
• Familiarity with security best practices, system administration, and IT infrastructure management.
