Cybersecurity Instructor
SUMMARY:
Plan and provide instruction to students enrolled in the career and technical education program, Systems Administration/Administrator/Cybersecurity, through the Hillsdale Area Career Center in compliance with MDE and the Office of Career and Technical Education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following and other duties as assigned.
- Familiar with computer skills, hardware, and software applications and techniques needed to complete certifications as listed on the OCTE program curriculum document
- As part of the Hillsdale Area Career Center instructional team, provides career and technical education instruction to students following established curriculum standards, including instructional activities in the areas of work habits, employability skills, and the school improvement plan
- Records students' progress as indicated by established curriculum standards, evaluates, and makes recommendations to increase student achievement
- Maintains discipline in the classroom to increase student achievement
- Records and reports student attendance following district policy
- Ensures a cross-section membership on the Advisory Committee; implements curriculum development and equipment selection through the Advisory Committee structure and established curriculum standards
- Maintains regular liaison with all partners of the CTE program, including work-based learning placements and follow-up about specific job requests, as well as the general employability of students
- Maintains established school policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, and safety standards
- Maintains personal and professional growth and development through literature, seminars, workshops, and affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in education and the field of expertise
- Assists with the care and maintenance of the district’s equipment and supplies in an orderly manner
- Participates in Program Annual Review and School Improvement plan related to program and quality improvement, and procedures
- Develops hands-on instructional lessons related to the assigned career pathway
- Develops and monitors students in Work-Based Learning experiences
- Provides students with the opportunity to participate in student leadership organizations related to the CTE program
- Represents the HCISD and its entities in fostering positive relationships with other educational institutions and business and industry partners
- Aware of and complies with HCISD Policies and Procedures in support of non-discrimination standards
- Lead in developing and maintaining employer and industry organization relationships, to identify, develop, and provide appropriate training and support, as well as development of new instructional programming as needed, including the design of customized training for employers
- Promote Hillsdale Area Career Center programs at local school districts
- Maintain all required CIP Self Review documents required by the Office of Career and Technical Education
- Lead in maintaining relationships with post-secondary partners, coordinating coursework, and scheduling for Cybersecurity certification.
- Serve as Cybersecurity Program Coordinator. Overall administrative responsibility for the program, including, but not limited to: maintaining facilities, evaluating curriculum, relationships with work-based learning sites, setting schedules, maintaining student records, site visits, scheduling state/credential tests.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university preferred
- Michigan Teaching Certificate is preferred
- Recent and relevant work experience in the Computer field may qualify a person without a teaching certification.
- An application should include a résumé of any training and relevant experience.
- Four thousand (4,000) hours of recent and relevant work experience in the field of Information Technology in the past five years
- Must possess or be eligible for an Annual Career CTE Authorization if coming from business and industry
- Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required
- An Appropriate Computer/Cybersecurity,/Systems Administration background is highly desired
- A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships
- Evidence of the ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders
- Ability to convey course content to high school students with enthusiasm and clarity

Physical Demands:
- Occasional reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/ crouching

- Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately, to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position

Salary: Per MEA/HCISD Master Agreement. Placement on the scale to be determined by certification, experience, and in accordance with the MEA/HCISD Master Agreement.
