Position Summary – IT Support Specialist

 

The IT Support Specialist ensures reliable and effective technology use across all PK–8 campuses by supporting device deployment, classroom technology, and day-to-day technical needs. This role assists students, faculty, and staff with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, while also supporting presentations and instructional tools used throughout the school day. The specialist maintains accurate documentation, contributes to technology planning, and collaborates with school leadership to support a positive and efficient learning environment. The ideal candidate brings strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to the mission and values of a Catholic school community.

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Device Deployment & Management

  • Deploy, enroll, configure, and manage student and staff devices across all campuses.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, including Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, peripherals, and loaner equipment.
  • Manage updates, settings, and security compliance through MDM systems (e.g., Google Admin Console, JAMF, or similar).
  • Prepare devices for new school year rollouts, testing seasons, and classroom program changes.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide daily technical assistance for students, faculty, and staff, including hardware, software, account, and connectivity issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to Wi-Fi, classroom tech, printers, and general IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain helpdesk documentation and ensure timely resolution of support tickets.
  • Specialist will be primarily responsible for support at Lower School Campus but will assist Student Systems Administrator or IT Director at Upper School Campus when needed.

Instructional & Classroom Technology

  • Set up and support presentations requiring video, audio, streaming, or projection during the school day.
  • Support classroom technologies such as interactive panels, document cameras, AV equipment, and instructional software.
  • Assist teachers with the use and integration of educational technology tools.

Compliance, Safety, & Policy Support

  • Ensure all educational technology tools comply with COPPA, CIPA, FERPA, and internal safety standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining technology-related policies, including:
    • AI usage guidelines
    • Acceptable Use Policies (AUP)
    • Cybersecurity and data privacy protocols
    • Support implementation of student digital citizenship inititatives and online safety practices.

Operational & Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate documentation for systems, procedures, and device lifecycles.
  • Assist with IT-related events, school programs, and testing environments (e.g., MAP, IOWA, STAR).
  • Provide input on technology purchases, renewals, and instructional technology planning.
  • Work independently while collaborating effectively with school leadership, teachers, and external partners.

 

Qualifications

  • Proficiency supporting Google Workspace for Education, Office 365, Chromebooks, iPads, and common educational apps.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and multitask in a school environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, especially with young learners and educators.
  • Experience in K–12 technology support preferred (not required).
  • Reports to the Director of Technology
  • Ability to uphold the mission and values of a Catholic school environment.
